Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Applied

Candidates submit their resume, respond to initial questions related to the role and are awaiting review from Ruffwear.
Stage 2

Internal Review

Once we've received your application, a member of our People & Culture team will review it. If you're a potential match, we'll share your candidate profile with the Hiring Manager. 

If we don't determine a good fit this time around, we'll let you know as soon as possible by email. 
Stage 3

Hiring Manager Review

After our initial screen, your application heads to the Hiring Manager for a closer look. This is where they review the remaining applicant pool and narrow it down to those they’ll meet with. They're looking for the right mix of experience, potential, and alignment with the role—so if you make it to the next round, it means something clicked.
Stage 4

Pack Leader Interview

Here’s where you dive deeper with the person who knows the role best—your potential future manager. This person is the ultimate decision maker in our hiring process. Expect a mix of big-picture thinking and nitty-gritty role details as you explore how your skills, style, and goals align. It’s less about perfect answers, more about real talk.

This is also another opportunity to learn about Ruffwear, but more specifically Pack Leader style, team dynamic, and vision for the future. We'll always leave time for you to ask us questions - definitely ask what you want to know to help you decide if this is a good fit for you!
Stage 5

Get to Know the Team

Time to meet members of the team! In this stage, you’ll connect with folks from the immediate team—sometimes one-on-one and sometimes in a panel. 

It’s all about getting to know you, your style, and collaboration approach. 

You'll be given a chance to experience real-time team dynamic and will definitely have time to ask questions of potential future teammates. 
Stage 6

Decision Time

After interviews wrap, our team comes together to share input and perspectives. We take this step seriously—thinking through individual skill and business need match.

We don’t rush this part; we take the time needed to make a thoughtful, aligned decision. If it’s a match, we’ll move quickly to next steps.
Stage 7

Offer

Once we’re both on the same page, it’s time to make it official. You’ll get a call from People & Culture with the good news (so be sure to keep an eye on your phone!), followed by a formal written offer in your inbox—ready for digital signing. 

For some roles, a background check might be part of the final step. We’ll let you know if that applies to you and what those next steps are if they apply. 
Stage 8

Hired!

Welcome to our Pack! Once your offer is signed (and background check cleared, if applicable), we’ll kick off your pre-boarding and get you ready to hit the ground running.
